EUFA was part of a workshop conducted during the NECS Conference in Amsterdam, June 27-29, 2018. The workshop How to Teach European Cinema: the European University Film Award and Beyond was extremely well attended by already participating members of EUFA and new members (photo on the right).
In this workshop we discussed best practice examples of how to teach European cinema. The EUFA served as an example, but the workshop enabled a larger discussion of general issues in teaching contemporary European Cinema. The discussion tackled the "Europeanness" of European Cinema, in terms of aesthetics, narratives, production, distribution and reception contexts. Furthermore, it drew on recent discussions on pedagogy and politics on teaching transnational cinema.
To dig more into the topic a very detailed and profound Dossier was published in the ALPHAVILLE Journal of Film and screen Media
